Montessori Radmoor

It’s already March and hopefully spring is right around the corner. We hope everyone is staying warm and healthy.

Reading, in its various stages, is stealing the spotlight this month. A new group of readers has launched into the moveable alphabet and are coming up with some very interesting stories. Sandpaper letters have found a new interest with another group of young friends. Some of the older friends are fascinated with the idea of research; reading about a topic and writing their own factual stories based on their reading.

In our attempt to stay healthy in the midst of the cold and flu season, we are constantly working on practicing how to wipe our noses and remembering to wash our hands with warm water and soap until we sing the happy birthday song. The search continues for a more interesting hand washing song. Just as a reminder, as part of our plan to keep everyone healthy at school, we are a nut aware facility.  So please make sure that any snacks or lunch items that you send for the classroom or for your child contain no nuts, nut butters or nut-based products. We do have children with nut allergies in our classroom and in other classrooms as well.

An upcoming project for our classroom is an auction item that will be displayed during our International Night celebration in May. We are entertaining the idea of a children’s cookbook containing recipes that are special to your children; things that they enjoy making with you. We are looking for simple, kid friendly recipes from around the world. We are also looking for a volunteer to collect these recipes from the parents. Let us know if you are interested.

Thank you to the parents that have signed up for the conferences which will be held on March 13th and 14th.  If you have not signed up, please utilize ivolunteer.  If none of the available times work for you, please let me know and we can try and make some arrangements.

Stay Warm,

Archana
