Spring Salutations!

First and foremost, I would like to give a very warm welcome to our new assistant, Ms. Nichole!  Nichole is quickly learning the ins and outs of our routines, is constructively revamping our snack options (she is a trained Chef!) and has a wonderful demeanor with the children.  Our first week back from break with our new friend, Nichole, and all is well.

International Night, May 18th (!!), is just around the corner…

P3 is South America this year and the children have some serious interest in creating a variety of scenes, objects and animals from the continent!  The essence of why I enjoy our preparations for our International Night is simple: it enhances the impetus in the child to learn about and celebrate the diversity of our world.  Giving the child the opportunity to dive in and further their curiosities, all the while learning and connecting them to another part of our world.

So, in preparation for the event…

If anyone would care to donate/loan materials for our transformation into South America, here are some of the items we need:  large cardboard pieces, brown duct tape, green duct tape, red holiday lights, blue and white holiday lights, stuffed animals for our “rainforest” scape, and possibly more items in the next few weeks.

Also, in the build up to our event, if anyone would like to come in and share a story or information with us about South America or its people, we would LOVE to have you!  Also, we are fortunate to have a few families in our P3 community that are native to, or have familial roots in Peru and Colombia.

Upcoming P3 potluck will be held on May 3rd from 5:30-7:00pm.

Please sign up for a dish to pass on ivolunteer.  We know it is a busy time of year for all of our families, but taking some time to receive a lesson from your child, learning about a work they are enjoying, and mingling with other families in our community makes for a lovely evening- please join us!

Thanks for reading, and, as always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Peace,

Trish
