We have been enjoying the beautiful sights of our natural setting as the leaves change this fall.  We have seen deer coming to the fence to eat the corn that we feed to the birds, snakes slithering quickly away in search of warmth, and children reveling in the fresh, crisp air!

The last few weeks have been spent learning about what makes a mammal a mammal, and many of the children were very excited to find out they are mammals!  As we continue to discuss mammals, we have shifted our focus a bit to vertebrates and skeletal structures.  Ask your child how the frame of a house is like their skeleton?  See if they can name some mammals or vertebrate animals, or even play a game where they name a mammal that begins with a specific sound…”a”.  One of the reading works available right now are the names of human skeletal parts.  Learning about the human animal is awesome!

Again this month, we have enjoyed time in the greenhouse helping water the new crops and preparing for the winter months.  We joined Ms. Julie in seeding the front garden bed with beneficial grasses to enrich the soil for future plantings.  We have had some lovely days in the sun and the dirt.

Please remember as the weather changes and gets colder, we still love to spend time outside.  Be sure to send your child with appropriate outdoor gear, such as, gloves, hats and boots.  Also, please make sure you have signed up for conferences on either October 31st or November 1st.  It is a wonderful time for us to discuss all of the activities your child is doing at school.  Also, remember we are closed on those days for conferences.

As always, thanks for reading!

Peace,

Trish

Is anyone willing to donate a few pumpkins for carving next week?  We will be spending time one day carving our pumpkins, collecting and cleaning the seeds for snacking.

Thank you!
