Welcome families and happy Fall!

It is so wonderful to see all of our returning students and families again, and to get to meet all the new ones.  It is always such a pleasure to see how the children have grown over the summer months and to hear all the stories they have to share. We have had a great couple of weeks with the children settling in very nicely- we have been giving lots of hugs, but also getting many as well!  Thank you all for the trust and support you give us in getting to know your children.  There may (and will!) be rough mornings, but know that we are there to help and will always do our best to make them feel loved and comfortable.

During our mornings in the early Fall, we spend a great deal of time in small group lessons, and often in the larger group, talking about Grace and Courtesy lessons.  We talk about how to interrupt a teacher, or a friend; how to ask someone to work with you and we practice moving about the room in a safe and controlled manner.  The older children are so eager to give these lessons, and are so proud to be the “teachers”; they have been developing this skill since their first day with us.  We remind those older children how important their role is- as they are generally way more interesting teachers to the younger children than are the adults in the classroom!

On October 8th, we will have our Fall Potluck from 5:30-7:00pm.  This is a lovely evening to share a favorite dish and get to know others in our community.  It is also a great time for you to see some of the things your child is working on in the classroom.  We know fall can be very busy, but we are hoping that you will all be able to join us and just hang out for a while.

Just some reminders…

-If you have not sent in a photo of your child, please do!  We use them to personalize their cubbies for easy recognition.

-Please be sure to be checking your child’s backpack every day.  When your child has an accident, clothes will be placed inside a plastic bag and attached to their bag.  However, they often put that bag inside theirs- be sure to check.

-Door to the classroom opens at 8:45am.  Prior to that we are setting up the classroom and preparing for the day.

**Just as a reminder, conferences are held on October 29th and 30th.  Conference times are available on our website.
