Montessori Radmoor

Hello Everyone-

December is upon us. We are having our Potluck on Tuesday, December 5th and it will begin at 5:30 p.m.  You can sign up to bring a dish to pass on Ivolunteer. Check the reminders or go to our website to sign into Ivolunteer. We look forward to seeing everyone. Also, since it is December, please remember that even if there isn’t snow on the ground the children need their snow pants to wear outside on cold days.

In November, each week we tasted a new squash. It was fun and exciting but most of all the children loved the squash. We tried acorn, hubbard, butternut, and sweet potato squash. All the children really liked the butternut the best. The least favorite was acorn but most everyone tried the squash at each tasting. It’s so important to let toddlers try new vegetables. Remember it can take up to ten times before a child really likes a food or wants to try it, so don’t give up. The children also liked our green smoothies. Our smoothies have been pretty simple, made with rice milk, frozen fruit, and bananas. We are mixing it up and adding vegetable to our smoothies as well. The children still love smoothie day and they are learning more about spinach, cucumbers, and Kale.

For December, we will be painting, making projects, and making our own wrapping paper. These projects help with fine motor skills. Because this involves set up and clean up for these projects a lot of practical life will be involved as well. The children have enjoyed washing and drying tables and washing the easel this year. In the future, there will be more lessons on table scrubbing, sink scrubbing, and washing paint cups and brushes.

Please note that Montessori Radmoor follows Okemos Public Schools for snow days and will be closed if the closure is due to snow. But, the school will not be closed on days that are closed due to temperatures because we don’t have children who walk or take the bus.  You will receive a call from our automated system if school is closed.

Enjoy this lovely Month and Happy Holidays!
