Montessori Radmoor

Wow, how the first month of school has flown by! It has been a lot of fun to meet and get to know all of our new friends and families. This fall we have met Ari, Autumn, Emma, Thelo and Vaibhav. Soon we will add our final new toddler, Eloise. It has also been amazing to see our returning toddlers and notice how much they have grown over the summer. These are the “big brothers and sisters” of the class. Severen and Harper are always asking questions and reading books with the new children. Noah and Bjorn have been spending a lot of time showing our new friends how to prepare snacks. Jack and Henry both enjoy sharing puzzles and playdough with our new friends.

Weather and time permitting, we would like to take a fall field trip with the toddlers. Some of the past field trips we’ve taken have included apple picking at Clearview Orchards, pumpkin picking at Peacock Road Tree Farm, exploring the great outdoors at Harris Nature Center, and visiting the horses at MSU Horse farm. We are open to new suggestions, or if you have a favorite from one of these spots, let me know.

I also wanted to let you know about a few things that are really helpful to our community. First, labeling all items that come to school has been great! It makes our school day flow so much better when we know exactly what belongs to whom. Also, thank you so much for keeping us up to date with your child and absences. There are a couple of ways to let us know. If it is a planned absence (vacation, home day etc.) you can either tell me directly or write it down on the sheet located just outside the door of the classroom labeled, Parent Comment Sheet.  If the absence is unexpected (illness) please call the school and either leave Jamie or me a voice mail, or you can let Jaime know directly. That way we can keep up to date on any illnesses that may be going around. Also, it is helpful for us to know if there is anything unusual going on, for example, if your child did not sleep well the night before, or if Mom/Dad may be going out of town for a few days. A lot of the toddlers will talk about things but we may only get one or two words from them, so, if we know that a parent may be out of town, we can talk to your toddler about it!

Finally, I just want to let you know what a joy it is to share in the lives of these wonderful children.   Thank you so much!

Erin
